| As I pondered around the hobby catalog I
decided after building about 58 kits a new jet like aircraft is needed
in my fleet. So, I choose one of the very few new kits being introduced
into our hobby. After starting this Patriot XL by Great Planes it was
easier than a you would expect. The balsa was a good grade which Great
Planes usually supplies with all their models. Hardware and fixtures are
also the same top quality as I have been a custom to..
After about 125 hours from start to finish I can look
back and really have no complaints about this .61 powered beauty.
The engine I had choose to power this 7 pound craft is
a brand new out of production O.S. .61 rear pumped power house attached
to a tuned pipe system. As for radio equipment I stand by my Futaba
equipment and I used a total of 6 servos all mounted between the wing
and tail. The aircraft balanced perfectly.
As of today March 1, 2005 I still have yet to test fly
this engineering wonder.
